Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath

Leah Remini

I have just watched the first and second episodes on You Tube and notice a few points worth mentioning.

The first point is the lack of differentiation between the technology and the church. Although this is primarily about the church, Miscaviage and the destructive and illegal use of the fair game policy a proper balance would be served by pointing out that this is not the product of the philosophy, indeed it is the very antithesis of the original philosophy as developed by L. Ron Hubbard. It is like someone building a beautiful car and then someone else coming along and scrawling obscene graffiti over it. And then not point this out but accepting the graffiti as the car itself.

For most people seeing this there will be no explanation of the ARC principle, the eight dynamics, stable data, tone scale or in fact any other of the solid very useful and helpful principles on which scientology is based. Instead this is looking more like an emotional diatribe against the church and Miscaviage. One can understand why with the abuses and disgusting behaviour Miscaviage engages it. It is certain that he is anything BUT a scientologist and has turned the church in the very thing it was against all along. So it is vital to point out that this is NOT in fact Scientology and the Church of Scientology is Scientology in name only. As the series is not finished I have the faint hope that this will be remedied eventually.

A second point is that apart from the severe cut communication lines the church is strenuously employing which are heartbreakingly portrayed in this series, the church is also violating its own tenets. For whatever reason the church is failing to deliver what was promised. "SENIOR POLICY, the senior policy is "deliver what was promised."". This has resulted in a betrayal after trust for many people and a real sense of bitterness as a result. This has further resulted in terrible PR for the church with the high profile among us not backward in coming forward with their upset.

A third technical point, as Hubbard pointed out, is "Anything you resist you get. Anything you resist you become - the favorite motto of this universe." THE PHOENIX LECTURES and this is well illustrated with the church. These points are guaranteed to ensure its failure, not in spite of the tech but because of the tech.

A third point is that, while I applaud Leah's exposure of Miscavige's traitorous acts starting a fight with the church is not going to improve the church. There is an old saying, 'If you fight with pigs you are gonna get dirty.' So it can be fine line and so far Leah has managed to stay on top of her game here. Let's hope she can keep her balance and not fall into the pigsty the church has become.

Moving on can be difficult, especially for those who have suffered trauma such as the type Miscaviage dishes out. But remember, one is a spiritual being and CAN rise above this. One can heal arc-breaks. One can take a leaf out of 'What is Greatness.' One can decide that attention on improving the future is more profitable than attention on the past. One can start a new life. Let's hope also that Leah feels she can incorporate that sentiment into her series.
